From Zero to Agents
From zero to AI agents: how strong data foundations, simple architecture and user trust enabled real adoption and practical AI outcomes in a complex environment.

Everyone’s talking about AI right now. But here’s the part that often gets missed:
AI is only as powerful as the foundation it’s built on.
We recently partnered with a life sciences organisation whose sales team spends 60–70 hours a week on the road; in hospitals, in operating theatres, and in meetings with surgeons. Their world is deeply relationship-driven and incredibly time-poor. The last thing they wanted was another system that added more admin to their day.
They had data, but it lived everywhere. Spreadsheets, disconnected systems, and often in people’s heads. There was no single source of truth and no CRM bringing it all together.
The question wasn’t whether Salesforce was the right fit. It was how to design it in a way that felt simple, practical and genuinely helpful.
So we started deliberately small. We stayed as close to out-of-the-box as possible and made clear architectural decisions early: the ERP would remain the master of customer data, and Salesforce would become the engagement layer. We only extended functionality with customization where there was a clear and meaningful use case.
With that, what changed wasn’t just the technology.
It was the trust.
Trust in the data. Trust in the process. Trust that when a rep opened the system before walking into a hospital, the information was accurate and useful. That trust drove adoption, and adoption improved data quality. The flywheel started turning.
Because the foundation was strong and the platform was genuinely being used, we’ve now moved to the next stage — building internal AI agents for the sales team.
These aren’t flashy experiments. They’re practical productivity tools that surface relevant customer insights before meetings, help log activities on the go, and generate contextual follow-up communication. For a team already working long hours, that means less time on admin at night and more time focused on what they do best: building relationships.
There are three lessons we’re taking from this journey.
- Simplicity scales far better than complexity.
- Trust is the real transformation.
- AI only delivers value when it’s built on clean, adopted data.
If you’re thinking about your own AI roadmap, the starting point may be simpler than you think. Ask yourself whether your people genuinely trust your platform and the data within it. If the answer is uncertain, that’s where the opportunity lies.
If you’d like to explore what building the right foundation looks like for your organisation, we’d love to have that conversation.
