A win for Cloudwerx, a win for good culture

All Case Studies > A win for Cloudwerx, a win for good culture

Every now and again it’s nice to get recognition for all of your hard work, isn’t it?

For the entire Cloudwerx team, we had our own moment of recognition this month for the effort we’ve all been putting into making our company a success.

Cloudwerx was honoured to be named as a finalist in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 list for 2022. We came in at 18 on the list — and we couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve achieved together so far.

Now in its twenty-first year in Australia, the program ranks the 50 fastest growing public or private technology companies, based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2019 to 2021). Cloudwerx experienced 900% growth over this period.

So, how did we do it? And what plans do we have in place to keep up with such astronomical growth?

Good people means good growth

18 might just be a number, but for us it represents so much more.

While the award is a fantastic moment we’ll stop and savour, it’s the journey to how we reached this moment that’s also shared by the entire Cloudwerx family.

We thought it would be best to hear from our Chief Technology Officer, Chris Baldock, on what he attributes our success to, and how we can sustain growth moving forward.

“To me the DTF50 award is phenomenal as it shows how we can achieve impressive growth but still maintain our strong internal culture.”

“I love that we haven’t lost focus of what we’re about. It’s all been done in-house — we’re genuinely self-made so that makes it all the more satisfying too,” says Chris.

As the only consulting company in the top 50, it certainly reaffirms the importance of culture at an organisational level.

“We’ve never been about growing as quickly as possible at all costs,” continues Chris.

“The award is a sign that we’ve got a good formula happening — and the strong relationships with our clients and partners are at the heart of it.”

Keeping up the momentum

With great growth comes great responsibility.

Taking into consideration the astronomical rate of tech growth and investment at home and across the globe in recent years, it’s not a time to rest on our laurels.

“We need to stay bold and adaptable,” Chris suggests.

“Our leadership team has always been willing to try different things and commit to seeing things through. That’s been a constant.”

Another example of being open to change is how we’ve embraced robotic process automation for our clients’ projects in recent times.

“While the tech is still taking some getting used to across the industry, we’ve made the leap and committed to integrating it into our suite of partner solutions as we believe in how effective it can be.”

Change is as good as a holiday

In practice, being flexible means being willing to change what you’ve done before.

That’s why Chris believes that accepting a level of fluidity around our internal org structure is pivotal to growing in a sustainable way.

“My own role has evolved from being on the ground to start with to being more operational because that’s what was required.”

“We’ve recently had to create new roles en masse with new teams and new chapter leads to meet the requirements of new projects.”

In good company

To be mentioned in the same breath as peers we respect so much is something we’re really chuffed about too.

At a time in history when technology and connectivity has never been more important, the inspiring work being done across sectors like media, software, healthcare, fintech and clean energy only serves to demonstrate the bright future the industry has created for itself.

Even more pleasingly, My Plan Manager, a Cloudwerx client we’ve been a strategic partner with to help connect people with NDIS suppliers was a runner up in 2020. So we’re definitely in esteemed company!

MPM is a very human centred organisation.  They deeply care about their customers and people as do we,” Chris points out.

So, a huge thank you to the entire Cloudwerx family across the globe — now numbering more than 180 people from India, to Australia and New Zealand. It’s a team effort, and this award is shared by us all.
